Thorne Auchter, originally from Jacksonville, Florida, first fell in love with the Blue Ridge Mountains when he was a student at Woodberry Forest School in Orange, Virginia. In 1992, while working in and around the federal government in Washington, D.C., he and his wife Barbara, bought a horse farm in Boston, Rappahannock County, VA. There they bred and raised Friesian horses.

 After a lifetime of political work in Washington, D.C., Thorne and Barbara have settled into the lifestyle of small villages and sharing with friends and clients the serenity that comes with country living.  Barbara is a very active horsewoman and professional photographer, while Thorne’s love of our rural environment has brought him into the world of real estate.
